Didactics, or the »design« of structure, roles, and productive interaction

Tuesday, 12 March 2024, 13-18h

How to enable and/or strengthen your students’ participation and commitment along with the realization of satisfying outcomes?

Possibly you find it challenging to plan an open and not predictable process. Probably you would like to bring the potential of individuals and the whole group to its realization.
Eventually you ask yourself what kind of guidance or support the students’ learning and development needs.
And surely you wish the students would take on some responsibility for the quality of the process and the outcome.

This is where didactics comes in. It is not about restricting creative freedom in teaching, but about the productive structuring of a setting in which different and partly unexpected trajectories and results are possible.

Didactics ranges from the definition of meaningful outcomes and contents to the interplay of roles and the promotion of interaction through to the question of »quality«.

Based on theoretical input, we will discuss your specific and current concerns: such as the kind and number of structural offers in mainly »open« teaching formats, the handling of challenging »group dynamics«, enhancing students’ commitment and responsibility, enabling participation, etc.
