The purpose of the Program is to deal with the consequences of the Russian aggression in Ukraine devoted to the promotion of democracy in all possible ways with a special focus on research topics relating to Austrian history, politics and culture, Habsburg Imperial history, politics and culture, Austrian-Ukrainian and Austrian-Russian relations, Austrian-American transatlantic relations.

Jerusalem Design Week (JDW) 2026 invites designers, architects, artists, and multidisciplinary collectives to participate in its annual Open Call under the theme Match Point. The upcoming edition explores the intersections of sport, competition, design, and culture, examining how rules, arenas, bodies, and technologies shape contemporary life. Selected projects will be funded and exhibited during Jerusalem Design Week, which opens on 18 June 2026 in Jerusalem. 

Cumulus PhD Network is launching a call for short papers, dedicated exclusively to PhD students, inviting them to share their doctoral research during the Cumulus Athens 2026 conference in a dynamic Pecha Kucha format (20 slides advancing automatically every 20 seconds).

The University of Applied Arts Vienna is launching an competition of ideas for new toilet pictograms – moving beyond the usual skirt vs. trousers, male vs. female symbols. We are looking for signs that include everyone. New pictograms are being sought for all types of use! Let’s go!

BookVision is an international competition reflecting the book art from students of art colleges and faculties of education. The competition presents student artist’s books in the broadest sense, but also book-objects and other book artefacts that conceive the book as a medium for free artistic creation. The competition is organized by the Book Design Studio at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava.

As part of Subotron Game Jam 2026, a collaboration between SUBOTRON, the New York NGO Games for Change, and the Belvedere, all students at the University of Applied Arts are invited to participate in the Experimental Game Cultures Lab, which takes place at the University of Applied Arts as part of a course. It is aimed specifically at all disciplines!

The Krupa Art Foundation (KAF) announces the Open Call for the second edition of the international KAF Young Prize 2026, an art competition dedicated to supporting emerging artists at an early stage of their careers. The call is open internationally and addresses recent artistic developments from the past two years. Artists can apply in the categories of painting, digital art, and sculpture and installations. Submissions are accepted online until 31 March 2026, with the final exhibition planned for autumn 2026 in Wrocław.

The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation finances an exchange programme that supports research stays between Austria and the USA, primarily for students of technology, natural sciences and economics.

ASEA-UNINET Project Funding aims to promote bilateral and multilateral projects in the areas of research, research-led teaching and the arts between the Austrian ASEA-UNINET member universities (incl. candidate members) and member universities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Stromkilometer is both a prize and a challenge that is awarded to students, alumni and also employees of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
