Thinking Through Weibel

Beginnings, Diversions, Elsewheres

Presented by The Weibel Institute for Digital Cultures

Thinking Through Weibel gathers key works out of the Peter Weibel Archive, held by the Collection and Archive at the University of Applied Arts and positions them in relation to contemporary practices by invited international artists, that unfold through distinct conceptual and material approaches. Their contributions do not follow or extend Peter Weibel’s logic, but move across and against it, forming intersections without fixing relationships.

Dunkelkammerdialoge

An exhibition by Claudia Rohrauer (Head of the Analogue Photography Workshop) and Corinne Futterlieb in the context of Foto Wien

Algorithmic Vertigo

A contribution to FOTO WIEN 2025: dynamic futures by the Digital Art department and its students

Algorithmic Vertigo is both an exhibition and a hypothesis. Speculative storytelling becomes a tool for reshaping the present by imagining possible futures. We negotiate tensions between control and freedom in a world of ubiquitous digital mediation. We recognize exhaustion. We acknowledge that the relationship between reality and the imagined future is changing. We prompt ourselves to find new ways of experiencing (digital) existence. New ideas about what could be called truth emerge.

HINSCHAUN! POGLEJMO!

Carinthia and National Socialism | Koroška in nacionalsocializem

With contributions by Paul Petritsch (Ortsbezogene Kunst)
