Call for Angewandte-Alumni: The public art universities, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Science, have initiated the ‘A4 – Austrian Art Alumni Award’ programme, which enables the awarding of one scholarship per year to six individuals with an excellent academic background across all universities. The aim is to support particularly outstanding graduates of art universities as they embark on their artistic careers, thereby promoting Austria's standing in the world of art and culture.

The Angewandte explored the materiality of data and its intersections with art as part of the symposium Crafting Data. Through a keynote lecture by Hito Steyerl, as well as panels and workshops, the role of artistic practices in engaging with algorithmic bias, data representation, and the ethics of machine learning was discussed and situated in relation to artistic, research, and teaching practices at the Angewandte.

Award Vanessa Preger-McGillivray Prize 2026 awarded to Mariia Ustiuhova more > >
Mariia Ustiuhova receives the 2026 Vanessa Preger McGillivray Prize from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the City of Vienna. Ustihuova is a graduate student in the Department of Drawing and Printmaking at the Institute of Fine Arts and Media Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and is being honoured for her diploma project Di Sonetti. In the mixed-media installation supervised by Jan Svenungsson, Ustiuhova explores synaesthetic impressions as mechanisms for transcending time.
