Dobrila Denegri (Belgrade/Rome) talks with Biljana Tomić (Belgrade)

Biljana Tomic-Denegri is an art historian and curator, living and working in Belgrade. Since 1968/73 she was curator of the section for Visual Art and Multimedia Events, BITEF − International Theatre Festival; 1972/77; curator of Expanded Media Festival, Student Cultural Centre, 1976/99; director of the Visual Art Program, Student Cultural Centre Gallery; since 2001 director of nKA / ICA – Independent Cultural Association in Belgrade.
Tomic-Denegri was also co-curator of Aperto, Venice Biennial (1986); co-curator Videothek − Documenta 8, Kassel (1987); co-curator La Coesistenza dell’Arte, Venice Biennial, (1993); co-curator Locarno Video festival (1981 − 1987) and curator of numerous exhibitions in private and public international institutions since 1968 till today.

She will talk about her curatorial practice with her daughter Dobrila Denegri who is the current curator of the exhibition Transfashional – a cooperation between Angewandte, frei_raum Q21 exhibition space MQ Wien, Academy of Fine Arts Warsaw, London Fashion College, Austrian Cultural Forum Warsaw, Austrian Cultural Forum London.

Dobrila Denegri is art historian and curator, born in Belgrade and living and working in Rome. Since 2002 she is artistic director of nKA / ICA in Belgrade.
From 2002 till 2008 she was curator at the MACRO − Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome. From 2007 till 2009 she lectured on relations between art and fashion at La Sapienza University in Rome and since 2011 she is lecturing on the same subject at Polimoda in Florence. In the period between 2010 and 2015 she was artistic director of Centre of Contemporary Art in Torun in Poland. She has curated numerous group and solo exhibitions as well as workshops, panels, and lectures for public and private institutions internationally.
