Kuratieren als antirassistische Praxis

curating. ausstellungstheorie & praxis – Volume 2

The publication reflects on the tasks, strategies and forms of action of museums and exhibitions from the perspective of postcolonial museology and critical migration and regime research. The critical analysis of existing approaches is intended to make curating conceivable as an anti-racist practice.

Focusing on agency and the interfaces between social fields of conflict and curatorial practices, the authors analyse the relationship between struggles for and against the representation of specific topics. In this sense, the focus is on strategies of talking back as well as contact zones and approaches to re-appropriation.

The English-language edition of the book was published in 2018 under the title Curating as Anti-Racist Practice as a collaboration between Aalto University, Helsinki, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
