”Could I be Gaboniontum?”
A project designed by:
Sophie Hausmann
Johannes Felix Lotze
Emilie Dyrløv Madsen
Florian Sapp
In cooperation with the University of applied Arts Vienna, Design Investigations and Natural
history museum Vienna.
Based on speculative design, the goal of this project is to create a visualization of the prehistoric fossil Gabonionta - who was it, how did it live, and what did it look like?
To assemble the video, we enlisted the help of artificial intelligence to provide a non-human perspective on evolution.
Based on existing scientific articles, the AI created new assumptions and stories. These generated texts were used as a starting
point for created AI video material.
The AI is digital tool that generates numerous pixels of possible suggestions of what Gabonionta life might have been like.
The questions "What do the Gabonionta look like?", "How do they communicate with each other?", "How do the Gabonionta move
around?" and "How do they interact with their environment?" are thus answered in numerous variations.
With our project “Could I be Gaboniontum?” we invite you on a journey into the possible world of the Gabonionta.
We give you the choice in which visualization your thoughts and speculations will be connected.
Let yourself be inspired and carry your won creative fantasies with you.
