Habit, you change!

“We are accustomed to the idea of habit; defining the concept itself is difficult,” writes Hegel.

At the symposium Habit, you change!, the question of the logics of habit is at the centre of the discussion, with the aim of exploring possibilities for liberation and realisation. It follows as the second part of the symposium The Goodness of Habit, in which habit, Hegel’s concept of habit and artistic perspectives were central themes.

With: Luisa Berghammer, Philipp Gehmacher, Christoph Menke, Luīze Nežberte, Francesca Raimondi, Monika Rinck, Dieter Sperl, Eva Maria Stadler, Sophie Thun, Jenni Tischer, Jan Völker and students from the University of Cologne: Nick Görig, Furkan Ikbal Pinar, Miriam Schönwald, Melanie Wilbrand

Last autumn’s inaugural symposium, The Virtue of Habit, examined the concept of habit alongside Hegel’s notion of habit (Jan Völker, Monika Rinck, Bibiana Beglau) and through the integration of artistic perspectives, such as in painting (Thomas Eggerer), music (Bernhard Lang), literature (Sophia Rohwetter), design (Lukas Kaufmann, Miriam Stoney) and a spatial installation by the ART SCHOOL Cologne/Vienna (Mirjam Thomann, Jenni Tischer and students from Cologne and Vienna).

The symposium was curated by Eva Maria Stadler and Jenni Tischer, Art and Knowledge Transfer, University of Applied Arts Vienna

Graphic design: Katarina Schildgen & Paul Gasser

The venue is accessible to all; during the symposium, the presentations will be translated into other languages via an app.
