29. August 2024
Zeynep Aksöz Balzar, lecturer at the I oA, is set to participate in the European Forum Alpbach as part of the Vienna Design Week x European Forum Alpbach Collaboration Campaign for the Future. She will be involved in a discussion titled "A Better World is Possible: Past, Present, and Future of Human Rights" on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 alongside the former Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramón Gilmore, and former Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Stagno Ugarte. The focus will be on the future of human rights, particularly from the perspective of AI.
On Monday, August 26th, she will lead a workshop for the "Rhizome Rule" campaign, which envisions a post-human future where election candidates are non-human species representing different ecosystems. In this workshop, participants will interact with three AI chatbots trained to simulate the candidate species—an ant, a mangrove, and an anemone—to understand their political goals and strategies. Finally on Tuesday, August 27th, the event will culminate in an "Election Night," where the winning utopia from this imaginative exercise will be announced.
