Oil – in its many mutable forms – is a problematic resource
and the foundation of our modern society. It is the basis of our global petroculture, permeates our everyday world in complex
ways, and its cultural shaping of society is widely unknown.
The installation,
Reflecting Oil Ð From Word to Substance, addresses crude oil‘s omnipresence, abstract conceptuality, and physical presence.
In its immediacy and simplicity, the installation questions our reality tied to crude oil and our role as petro-subjects.
