Marie Reichel's
lecture ‘Undichte Dinge z.B.’ examines media transformation procedures of sculptural processes in a thought experiment.
Based on the concept of the palimpsest – a parchment that has been written on and scraped off several times – the idea of
the glitch as a productive disturbance is introduced.
In her media translations, deliberately
induced disturbances are created that open up new perspectives. These transmissions are seen as part of the sculptural process
and can provide additional insights. Reichel argues in favour of an expanded understanding of sculptural processes that includes
media translations as a productive part of artistic practice.
Marie Reichel lives and works as
a multidisciplinary artist in Vienna. After training as a graphic designer, she studied transmedia art at the University of
Applied Arts Vienna from 2012 to 2017 with a six-month study period at Newcastle University. During her studies, she co-curated
exhibitions at the artist-run-space Argentinierstraße 4 together with the artists' collective. Since 2020 she has been working
as a university assistant at the Institute of Art and Design at the Vienna University of Technology. In 2024 she returned
to the University of Applied Arts Vienna as part of her doctoral studies in artistic research (PhD in Art) at the Zentrum
Fokus Forschung. Marie’s works are part of collections such as
Artothek of the Republic of Austria, University of Applied
Art Vienna, EVN Collection, State Collections of Lower Austria and Vienna’s City collection MA7.
