Presentation: Artistic Research PhD Programme
In the autumn of 2016, five
candidates will begin their PhD projects within the newly launched artistic research PhD programme at the University of Applied
Arts Vienna. At the event SUPER VISION, the new colleagues will share their visions as outlined in their respective research
proposals and give some insight into the reason behind their aim to start an artistic research PhD at the Angewandte. The
event will also include a conversation between the candidates, Nikolaus Gansterer (inaugural guest professor at the Zentrum
Fokus Forschung) and Henk Borgdorff (President of the Society for Artistic Research), lead by Alexander Damianisch (head of
Zentrum Fokus Forschung).

The Artistic Research PhD Programme is a postgraduate study programme in the field of art,
located at the Zentrum Fokus Forschung. The programme focuses on artistic work, which is regarded as the basis of know ledge
production. It is governed by topics and practices of artistic research. Criteria for the acceptance of candidates are the
potential for innovation and possible social relevance of the artistic research proposal and the knowledge of the national
and international research context.
