In cooperation with APL – Angewandte
Performance Laboratory, HUFAK – Student union of the Angewandte (ÖH) and the INTRA research project “Archives in Practice”
we look for individual or group student projects that engage with transdisciplinary, socially engaged art practices.
The selected projects will be accompanied by mentors and peer feedback over the course of the upcoming summer semester
2023, with a core phase in May/June at the APL Angewandte. The aim of the pilot project is to offer you a welcoming and safe
framework that enables you to carry out independent, artistic work across institutes – from the conception of ideas to applied
practice – all in the summer semester 2023.

Cross-institute
group submissions are prioritized. The project you are applying for should not have been realized before. The open call is
primarily aimed at Angewandte students (BA, MA, PhD), exceptions for collaborators apply. The willingness to attend
group appointments is a prerequisite for consideration. The submitted project cannot be a ZKF/ Semesterproject.
The selection is made according to the available resources. The number of projects selected is based on necessity and division
of resources. The amount of the project grant and studio space will be communicated during the interview and confirmed after
acceptance. The subsidy will be paid out aliquot after the projects’ completion. In case of urgency, the open call is subject
to further modifications.
The selection is made by an external jury as well as the
project coordination team Charlotta Ruth and Timothy Nouzak in collaboration with the APL
– Angewandte Performance Lab, HUFAK and the INTRA research project “Archives in Practice”. The selection
will be based on a number of different criteria connected to relevance and feasibility. Contentwise, we are open to a multitude
of methods and practices.
By March 15th 2023, all finalists will be
contacted by email and invited to an interview. After the interviews, the final decision will be made by March 20th 2023.
