Philosophers and artists have reflected upon the relation between
the experience of beauty and truth from Plato and Aristotle to Kant and Schelling, from Schopenhauer and Nietzsche to Heidegger
and Gadamer and beyond. Recent philosophy and evolutionary biology have stressed once more the exceptional cognitive
potential of aesthetic experience and beauty and have broken new ground for analysis and speculation. Is beauty back to stay?
In what way would the arts be involved in it? Does the cognitive potential of beauty in some way determine a specific responsibility
for the arts and for artists themselves?

Matteo
Giannasi (born 1974), PhD (Ca' Foscari 2005), teaches Logic and Philosophy of Science, History of Contemporary Philosophy,
Critical Thinking, Cultural Policies, and Cultural Heritage and Tourism, at Ca' Foscari University Venice. He is also education
consultant for art institutions, specialised in curating education programmes for adults and students. He published books
and articles in ontology, phenomenology, aesthetics and ethics. His recent research focuses mainly on topics at the intersection
between philosophy and management.
