18. June 2021
Dear University
Members,
The semester is coming to an end, so we would like to take this opportunity to inform
you about Corona regulations during the summer months, as well as provide an outlook for the fall.
Before
we do that, however, we would like to take this opportunity once again to say thank you to all of you. In March 2021, Angewandte
became the only Austrian university to resume on-site artistic teaching. This was only possible thanks to a broad solidarity
between hufak, the works councils and the rectorate, as well as the collegial and responsible way you all handled the situation.
Looking back, we are very pleased that the security concepts worked and that everyone worked so well together
that we were able to hold the entire summer semester without clusters or major incidents, at least in the artistic subjects.
We now want to continue on this path by inviting the public back to our university for the first time for Angewandte Festival,
and aim to return to comprehensive on-site teaching in the winter semester of 2021/22 (see further below).
Covid
regulations in summer 2021: July 5 through September 30, 2021.
(Please find the current operating mode
overview in full
here)
- Opening
hours during the summer months remain unchanged: daily including Sat/Sun/Fri from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
- Access
to the university buildings is possible for university members as well as for visitors, provided that the „3G-rule" (tested,
recovered, vaccinated) is observed. Appropriate proof must be carried at all times and will be checked at the main entrances
at Oskar-Kokoschka-Platz and Vordere Zollamtsstraße. In the branches, the control continues to take place in accordance with
the internal departmental concepts.
- The University Library is thus once again open for use and visit
by external persons.
- Wearing an FFP2 mask or at least other mouth-nose protection remains mandatory in
all corridor areas and public areas. In studio spaces and offices, the FFP2 mask may be removed – regardless of others present
in the space – when working individually in the space, but must be worn again when standing up and walking.
- As
of Fri July 9, 2021, 1pm, the operation of the test lane in the former Postal Savings Bank (PSK) will cease. We request
you to use the test offers of the city of Vienna or in the provinces.
- Events can take place again after approval
by the event management (veranstaltungen@uni-ak.ac.at) and in compliance
with the legal measures for events.
Outlook for winter semester 2021/22
We
currently expect to resume comprehensive face-to-face teaching in all areas of the University of Applied Arts in the fall
- taking into account the Covid conditions prevailing at that time and the corresponding security measures. Distance and hybrid
teaching will only take place in justified exceptional cases. As usual, we will inform you about the exact concepts and regulations
in due time before the beginning of the winter semester.
Finally, it only remains for us to wish you a successful
end to the semester, a stimulating Applied Festival and relaxing summer months - and to conclude with a reminder to continue
to treat each other responsibly even in this joyous time.
With best regards
Gerald
Bast, Bernhard Kernegger, Barbara Putz-Plecko, Eva Maria Stadler and Maria Zettler
