Jerusalem
Design Week (JDW) 2026 invites designers, architects, artists, and multidisciplinary collectives to participate in its annual
Open Call under the theme Match Point. The upcoming edition explores the intersections of sport, competition, design, and
culture, examining how rules, arenas, bodies, and technologies shape contemporary life. Selected projects will be funded and
exhibited during Jerusalem Design Week, which opens on 18 June 2026 in Jerusalem.
About
the Jerusalem Design WeekJerusalem Design Week is Israel’s largest and most influential public design event,
launched in 2011 and held annually at Hansen House in Jerusalem. The event is initiated by the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage
and the Jerusalem Development Authority, and organized by Hansen House and Ran Wolf Ltd.
In 2026, under the theme
Match Point, JDW will examine how visual language and practices stemming from the realm of sports affect contemporary design,
and how we experience competition, belonging and play. Opening on the backdrop of major sports events such as the FIFA World
Cup and the Maccabiah Games, this edition of JDW offers a comprehensive interpretation of both global and local sports culture.
By designing competitive arenas, architectural spaces, pavilions, and visual language for stadiums, this year’s Design Week
seeks to illuminate how design dictates the relationships, atmosphere and rules of any field. Interactive works will transform
visitors into major players of design processes, participating in simulations of competition, ceremony and group encounters.
The exhibitions on display will include projects inspired by relay races, trophies and medals, by collaborations between football
clubs and municipal authorities, and by the manner in which objects, graphics and architecture help create group identity
and shared experiences.
Who can applyThe Open Call is addressed to individual designers,
architects, artists, and design teams, as well as multidisciplinary and collective practices, working across fields such as
architecture, product design, graphic design, fashion, interactive and digital design, and spatial practices. Applicants may
apply to more than one category, provided that a separate application is submitted for each category. Both emerging and established
practitioners from Israel and abroad are eligible to apply.
SubmissionApplicants can
choose from several thematic categories, including architectural projects, large-scale installations, table-top competitive
design, design objects, rule-breaking design, and interactive technological installations.
Applications must be submitted
through the Jerusalem Design Week Open Call process by 28 February 2026 at 11:00 p.m. Selected projects will receive funding
and will be exhibited as part of Jerusalem Design Week 2026, which opens on 18 June 2026. Applicants who pass the first selection
round will be notified on 7 March 2026.
