Introduction
The
University of Applied Arts Vienna develops innovative solutions that digitally support the arts, sciences, and teaching at
the University. The Portal (working title) is a new tool for the sustainable digital support and archiving of academic work
in the arts, sciences, and education. The Portal is being developed based on the needs of staff, students, and alumni. Work
on the Portal takes place at the Angewandte.
The Portal combines various software solutions. A single login
(single sign-on) provides access to personal applications, existing services and resources (e.g., library, art collection
and archive), as well as the user’s own data – from anywhere and regardless of the operating system.
The University
is holding a competition for the design of the Portal. The process is arranged in two stages and aimed at graduates of the
University of Applied Arts Vienna, its staff, as well as students currently attending the University. A jury evaluates the
entries; the award presentation is scheduled for the beginning of 2016. Subsequent to the competition, the design will be
realised together with the software developers during the summer semester 2016.
Stage One
Open
invitation to all students, graduates, and staff of the Angewandte: Submission of own portfolio or portfolio of a jointly
run agency/office providing evidence of the following skills/experience:
- Project-relevant experience: Credentials regarding
projects showing independent creative involvement in the area of User Interface and User Experience, in particular in the
field of web-based software solutions.
- Professional knowledge and content-related competencies.
- Managerial
competencies: Stating reference projects for implementing tasks of comparable complexity and requirements, with cooperation
partners if applicable.
Stage Two
The jury selects individuals/teams from Stage
One to be provided with detailed documentation and briefings. The individuals/teams invited are to develop recommendations
for the UI/for the UX. The jury will subsequently select the winning design and will also allocate recognition awards.
