Vienna International Summer School on New Social Housing 2026

Housing & Data Justice

An event featuring Clemens Apprich (Department of Media Theory), Brigitte Felderer (Department of Social Design) and Christina Schraml (Department of Social Design).
This year’s Summer School focuses on the theme Housing & Data Justice. Emerging scholars, practitioners, and critical thinkers from the social sciences, architecture, art, urban planning, social design, law, and other disciplines will come together to examine and discuss housing as a field increasingly shaped by data and digitalization.
The focus is on how data, digital systems, and artificial intelligence are transforming the governance, access, design, and everyday experience of housing. The Summer School takes a critical look at these developments, examines their impacts and risks, and explores how knowledge, decision-making, and practices in housing can be made more transparent, democratic, and socially just.
