Grounds: At the Edge of Form brings together localresidents, artists, writers, philosophers, curators, geophysicistsand
a broad public for four days of encounters in Gibellina - Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026. Through film screenings,
live performances, a symposium and conversations, the programme opens a space for reflecting on what it means to live with
seismic uncertainty. In a landscape and city shaped by
the memory of the 1968 Belice earthquake and by ongoing questions
of vulnerability and transformation, artistic practice
becomes a way of listening, witnessing and imagining alongside
scientific, philosophical and local forms of knowledge.
The collaboration with Gibellina – Italian Capital of Contemporary
Art 2026 forms part of the international Creative
Europe co-creation project
Shaken Grounds: Art as Seismography
and brings together the Museum of Contemporary
Art Zagreb (MSU), the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Volcanic
Attitude Festival, and the Iceland University of
the Arts, with partners in Austria and Italy.
