This exhibition will feature works by students and alumni
of the TransArts Department at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
How can we rethink
the way we come together? How do we share? What do we bring to the table? Four artists try to explore these questions through
food as a medium that carries memories of home, migration, childhood, loss, or celebration. As a carrier of movement, for
ingredients travel across continents, recipes change when they encounter new cuisines and new territories; and as a language
of materiality through textures, smells, sounds, and temperatures.
Being at the table
(German: Am Tisch sein) unites diverse perspectives in which food, memory, identity, and care are negotiated not as concepts,
but as embodied experiences. The invited artists present works ranging from installations and performances to participatory
actions.
The works are not detached objects, but invitations to sit down, listen, taste, talk,
and join in.
