In present-day analyses of election results, political
debates and general language use, there is clear evidence of a shift to the right.
“ Language
will set everything on fire” states Thomas Köck in his “Chronicle of ongoing derailments”, and it is also linguistic derailments
that authors seek to observe and comment on. How can an artistic-political language be developed that counters exclusionary
rhetoric? What narratives can playwrights/writers for performance assert as alternatives? What alliances does a cultural sector
need in order to act in solidarity beyond national borders? How do authoritarian tendencies affect the institutions in which
artistic work takes place?
The one-day event focuses on artistic networking and collaboration. In the morning,
four international authors and theater makers - Magdalena Barile, Titilola Dawudu, Mário Drgoňa and Tijana Grumić - are invited
to share their perspectives and strategies. The second part is dedicated to the active exchange of prospective writers and
their questions in small groups: What about the reflection of political conditions in educational organizations? How can artists
create spaces for the future across national borders in order to respond to illiberal tendencies?
