Abstract:This
cumulative habilitation thesis provides an overview of the history, development, and use of natural sciences in the investigation,
research, conservation-restoration, and education in the field of cultural heritage from the beginning till now.
Various
aspects of the technical study of paintings, polychromy and coatings are discussed in more detail.
