Semester programmeKlasse für Alle is a program of continuing education,
created by the University of applied Arts Vienna to opening up their institutes and departments towards all those who are
interested in discussing, reflecting upon, and redesigning of our society. The urgency of current existential dangers requires
collective action and dialogue. We invite people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds, from all professional fields, with
or without previous education, and with a diverse range of skills and interests, to work with us on building a present and
future worth living.
In
Klasse für Alle, we will learn from and with each other, and with as little hierarchy
as possible. Artists and other specialists (from both within and outside the University) will lead and accompany this learning.
Mutual appreciation and respect for different opinions will form the basis for this cooperation.

On the one hand this is about the
practical construction & care of the compost heap in the courtyard of the main building of the Angewandte, on the other
hand we see composting as a metaphor for all life processes. In reading sessions, a lecture by the Humus Department of the
Boku Vienna, an exhibition visit followed by a collage workshop, a talk with the composting knowledge network, building worm
boxes, brewing beer, a writing session etc. we will approach this form of life. The detailed program (see below) will be updated
continuously.

(c) Andrea Lumplecker
In gardening we want to learn together.
In 15 sessions of three hours each, basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills will be taught. We will work together
learning about soil, proper composition, pre-planting, propagating trees, proper pruning of woody plants, building nesting
boxes, and rediscovering „new“ old tools. The goal of
Saturdays for Gardening is to ground us humans as an integral
part of the ecosystem in which we live.
The resulting responsibility and concern for soil, climate, insects, weather
and wildflowers can form the basis of a new understanding by our communities and our society of the future and our interaction
with nature.
A gardener by training, Johannes Wiener works at the intersection of ecology, art, social justice, agriculture,
and architecture. Mixing practical, craft, cooperative, animist and theoretical approaches, he seeks to develop new approaches
to fundamental questions of ecological and social crisis. He is founder of the association agri_culture.

SEEDING PRACTICE – CARE FOR PUBLIC GREENcity nature walks with Isa Klee
1st date Wednesday 12.10.2022, 16-18 h (takes place monthly)
Meeting
point Inner courtyard of the main building of the University of applied Arts, Oskar Kokoschka Platz 3, 1010 Vienna
Fee Pay what you can, € 5–10 / session suggested

(c) Isa Klee
Starting point are two green spaces of the
Angewandte: the meadow outside and the inner courtyard of the main building at Oskar Kokoschka Platz. Guided by Isa Klee,
who has developed an activist practice out of a conscious handling of plants, seeds and resources of the city and always in
concern for insects and other non-human species, we learn to see urban nature in a new way, to name it in its diversity, to
deal with it in a caring way. We try to recognize the habitat requirements of plants and animals and to get closer to the
species. The walks lead to other green spaces where mowing has already been suspended, to community gardens, fallow areas,
spaces in between: the so-called distance green, tree discs or even just „cracks“ between construction sites are observed,
planted, cherished. The inventory, along with the changes over the year, will be documented in drawings and language in a
sketchbook. In the summer semester, a non-normative archive will be created in cooperation with the class for applied photography.
Isa Klee works as endangeredspeciesadvocacy* intersectionally for an intact biodiversity. Klee initiates, activates, and
designs biodiverse spaces and spatial processes, thinking of cities as cross-species learning and living spaces. She is a
climate protection laureate and founder of the initiative Öko Campus Wien and active in community gardens in Vienna.
