University of Applied Arts Vienna: About 50 Additional Admissions for Ukrainian Atudents

15.03.2022
Russia's armed invasion of Ukraine is forcing many Ukrainians to flee to a safer country. There are a number of organizations and initiatives that provide help in different areas. Also the Angewandte uses its possibilities as an educational institution to provide help.  „We will admit about 50 students from Ukraine who are already pursuing similar degrees", explains the Rector of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Gerald Bast, and continues: "We know that we can only contribute a small part to the extensive and necessary aid measures for people who have fled the war. We are grateful, this emergency action for Ukrainian students has received great support from all faculty, students, and staff in our institution."
Starting in the academic year 2022/23, Angewandte will admit about 50 additional students from Ukraine who are already pursuing comparable degrees. A simplified admission procedure can thus be applied since the determination of artistic qualification has already been made. Based on the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Ukrainian students are exempt from tuition fees. The application period is still to be announced, the application decision will be made by the end of the summer semester. All information can be found at www.angewandte.at/ukraine_en as of 4.4.2022.

Based on the decree of the Ministry for Education, Science, and Research, Ukrainian students are exempt from tuition fees. Moreover, interested students can apply for admission as associate students - also within the framework of the MORE program for persons who have fled to Austria.

Finally, Rector Bast repeats in this context his appeal to the EU Commission and the responsible members of the government in Austria to establish a special ERASMUS program for Ukrainian students, which not only provides study.
