Neuromatic Play – KOPFGELD and other experiments

Margarete Jahrmann (ed.)

Through the AI-related art projects discussed in this newly published volume KOPFGELD. Ludic Eigenface Currency Concerter Game and [A]MAZE, as well as the installation The Playful AI Labyrinth, the Experimental Game Cultures team at the University of Applied Arts Vienna uses installation-based game art to cast a critical spotlight on the techno-feudalist and platform-capitalist harvesting of biometric data. The focus is on the development and proliferation of AI systems, which have gained rapid momentum since the first edition.

This publication is an emanation of the artistic research project Neuromatic Game Art: Critical Play with Neurointerfaces led by Margarete Jahrmann, head of Experimental Game Cultures at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The project was supported by the program for arts-based research (PEEK) from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
