This publication presents and documents 26 years of artistic
teaching and research at the Textiles Department of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. It provides insight into the diversity
of cultural techniques and fields of textile production, into the spaces of reflection in the context of teaching art and
into the diversity of practices that artists contribute as teachers.
The contributions show how artistic working methods
in an educational context inspire and rethink didactic practices. The focus is on the following questions: How can teaching
"from art" be understood, and what potential does teaching “from art” open up for educational processes? These potentials
can be seen from best-practice examples.
