the 14th São Paulo International Architecture Biennale

Congratulations
to [Applied] Foreign Affairs at the Institute of Architecture, University of Applied Arts Vienna, for being selected to participate
in the 14th São Paulo International Architecture Biennale, Architectures for an Overheated Planet, running from September
18 to October 19, 2025.
[A]FA will present REHEARSING GREEN RETURNS, a two-channel
video installation. One channel features a video produced by Daniil Zhiltsov in 2023, tracing [A]FA’s design proposal for
Tamale’s Old Airfield in Ghana and its transformation from a colonial relic of asphalt into a living landscape and communal
open space. The second channel, filmed by Ghanaian filmmaker Gideon Asmah, documents in detail the transplanting of grown
trees from Tamale’s forest onto the runway in May 2025.
Together, the two videos depict a radical act of unsealing,
grounding, and greening in response to climate extremes, exemplifying [A]FA’s collaborative ethos that embraces fragility,
uncertainty, and spatio-ecological imagination.
