The University of Applied Arts Vienna is seeking a part-time MULTI-MAKER (senior artist, 30 hours per week, permanent position starting October 1, 2026) for the Design Investigations department.

ABOUT DESIGN INVESTIGATIONS

Design Investigations is a five year diploma course in design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna led by Univ. Prof. Anab Jain. In this unique educational program, we equip students to become designers of tomorrow. Our program builds on a rich history of industrial design, expanding the tool-kit of a designer to explore and materialize technological, social and ecological futures. As the world is changing, everything from data to politics, artificial intelligence to biology is part of the designer’s playing field.

‘Thinking through making’ is a paramount pillar of our teaching philosophy. Quick prototyping, constant physical tryouts, and material experimentation lie at the heart of what we do and what we teach. To support this, we run a model shop where students learn to work safely and independently with a wide range of materials and tools.
