The University of Applied Arts Vienna is looking for a technical employee (m/f/d, 20 hours per week, initially limited to one year - with the option of extension) for the Institute of Conservation and Restoration to start as soon as possible.


Employment requirements:

  • Degree from a chemical or technical college or HTL (technical baccalaureate), or conservation science; university degree desirable
  • Knowledge of current laboratory practices
  • Ability to work in a team
  • High resilience and willingness to learn, strong self-management skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Didactic skills
  • Organisational skills


Job profile:

  • Ensuring smooth laboratory operations
  • Performing general laboratory activities (maintenance, calibration and preparation of laboratory equipment, assisting in performing simple types of tests and experiments, ordering and inventorying laboratory supplies and reagents, responsibility for cleanliness and order, etc.)
  • Familiarity with current laws and regulations on laboratory safety measures and monitoring compliance by laboratory users
  • Support the research and teaching activities of the institute team including preparation of laboratory courses for students
  • Supporting ongoing projects
  • Archiving of sample materials and object documentation
  • Electronic data management and reporting
  • Management of the library (loans)


The minimum monthly salary for this position is currently € 1,349.60 gross (14x per year for 20 hours per week) and may be increased by taking into account previous work experience in accordance with the collective agreement for universities (IIIa, salary scheme for general university staff). Depending on education and professional experience, an upgrade and overpayment is possible.
