The University of Applied Arts Vienna is seeking a University Assistant (m/f/d, 20 hours per week, limited until August 31, 2027) at the "[Applied] Foreign Affairs" Department at the Institute of Architecture starting from February 1, 2026.

Employment Requirements:

  • Degree in architecture


Applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and artistic practice in architecture, urban studies, environmental studies, and cultural studies
  • Knowledge of the discourses and methods of contemporary urban, landscape and spatial production
  • Project experience, as well as engagement with contemporary architectural discourse in teaching and research, especially in the context of sub-Saharan Africa
  • Knowledge and practical experience in field research and project work
  • Experience in organizing and implementing exhibitions, projects and publications
  • Organizational and social skills
  • Gender and intercultural competence
  • Fluent in English


Job profile:

  • Concept and project development of research and implementation projects (with a geographical and content-related focus on sub-Saharan Africa)
  • Supervision of students in the planning and implementation of artistic works and projects with regard to the orientation of the laboratory
  • Conception and implementation of exhibitions, projects, as well as responsibility for media presence (e.g. social media)
  • Coordination, organizational tasks


The minimum gross salary currently amounts to € 1,857.40 (14x times a year, based on 20 hours per week) and can be increased accordingly by taking into account job-specific previous experience in accordance with the collective agreement for universities (B1, salary scheme for academic/artistic university staff).
