In the exhibition
"Outlight", media artist David Osthoff addresses the current relationship between humans, technology and nature as a paradigm
of perception and the cause of ecological crises. With the help of his camera, he documents the influence of advancing technologization
at various locations around the world, while at the same time reflecting on the importance of his own artistic practice –
capturing the world through the technical gaze of the medium of photography. At the center of "Outlight" is a group of new
works that are being presented for the first time as part of an exhibition: the large-format video projection "east", the
photo series "Mirage" and the video loop "Siona". The older works and long-term projects “Datafalls”, “Privacy Spheres” and
“peak” form a thematic bracket.
David Osthoff, born
in 1985, lives and works in Vienna and also temporarily in other places on earth that inspire him. After his degree as a media
designer and photographer, he completed his diploma in DIGITAL ART (Ruth Schnell class) at the University of Applied Arts
Vienna in 2020.
