Cyclists
question the city as a soundscape, scrutinising its power effects and implications. Who has access and how to the acoustic
arenas of everyday life? What is the sound of (your) city? In collaboration with the artists Verena Dürr, Gischt, Suzie Léger,
Ramona Cidej and Matthias Hurtl, Conny Zenk develops a multi-channel audio-visual experience for her vegetative, technoid
and velophilic contemporaries and fellow cyclists. Sound recordings and atmospheres of the city form the basis for the soundtrack
of BIOSPHERE. Clouds of electrosmog hover clanging above the moving drones of urban infrastructure. Fragments of voices and
poetry overlay long-forgotten territories. Distorted sounds, cross our paths, stretching and amplifying them. Traces of sound
connect conversations with places and pictures of our past and present. How can cities be rethought through collective listening?
Conny Zenk is a media artist working at the intersection of performance, video and sound in the context of urban architecture,
feminism and the city. She studied Digital Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2017 she founded the participatory
event series RAD Performance.
