From 27 - 29 October, experts from the fields of
arts and sciences, research and teaching will come together to reflect on the future of education and career prospects for
students. The first two days will be devoted to materials and methods, academic tools and utopias. Another day focuses on
further practice after graduation, to develop ideas also in a project-oriented and entrepreneurial way.
Each day
is divided into morning workshops in which colleagues from the three collaborating institutions discuss and reflect on the
topics internally, while in the afternoons the topics are put up for public discussion and critically reflected on by international
experts.
In addition to the Rector of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Gerald Bast, the Professor of Experimental
Game Cultures, Margarete Jahrmann, the Head of International Programmes in Sustainable Developments, Katharina Gsöllpointner
and the Professor of Language Arts, Monika Rinck, the Vice Rector for Innovation and Research of the Johannes Kepler University
Linz, Christopher Lindinger, Professor at the Institute of Experimental Physics, Martin Kaltenbrunner, Professor at the Institute
of Sociology, Uli Meyer, the Head of the Department of Continuing Education Research and Educational Technologies at Danube
University Krems, Stefan Oppl, as well as the Head of the Department of Materials Chemistry at the University of Vienna, Alexander
Bismarck, and many other teachers and researchers from the three collaborating institutions. Critical reflections and impulses
will be provided by Jan Boelen, artistic director of the experimental materials research centre Atelier LUMA in Arles, France
and Christian Pohl the former co-director of td-net of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and TdLab of the Department
of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich, among others.
The TRANSFORM Symposium is realised within the framework
of the cooperation project "TRANSFORM - Digital and Social Transformation by means of New Pathways in Research and University
Education", which takes place from January 2020 - December 2023, and is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education,
Science and Research within the call "Digital and Social Transformation in Higher Education". TRANSFORM is a cooperation of
the University of Applied Arts with the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the Danube University Krems.
