BOOK PRESENTATION & SQUARE WALK:
Elterleinplatz (re)visited –
Square walk to the past, present and future of a "traffic island"
Wednesday, October 15, 2025 – 4
p.m.
Elterleinplatz, meeting point: Alszauberbrunnen
1170 Vienna
Duration: ca. 1 hour.
Already a central location in Hernals, Elterleinplatz will soon become even more prominent with the expansion of the subway
system – directly on the U5 line. Currently, the square is not particularly fascinating; people just transfer, get off, get
on, and drive through. The excursion invites participants to explore past and present ideas about Elterleinplatz. We ask:
what made, makes, and will make this place a square?
The excursion is based on research by Anna Ebert and Lisa
Heuschober, currently published in the volume Stadträume – Erkundungen an Wiener Plätzen.
