UNTER DRUCK

Let’s Share Our Despair! Urgent Invitation to Read and Discuss! Alone or In Company!

Social Design Studio

We still talk of “foreign” policy, but what borders are addressed by the “foreign”? Those of a state? Those of our personal concern? Those of direct experience? Or that of our tolerance? That of our depth of knowledge? This “foreign” does not exist, it determines our everyday life, it touches us, it invades us, it upsets us, it makes us silent even mute and it changes us – unfortunately and hopefully. In the face of wars, so close, so unbearable, it is necessary neither to freeze in our desperation nor to clash in opinions. Shouldn’t it rather be about seeking the debate? To cultivate the exchange? To emerge wiser from all necessarily tough discussions? Even if only a little wiser. Not to rely on a data stream and even to let oneself be carried away by it, but rather to ask questions? To find words? To gain knowledge? To seek higher goals and values?
The Social Design Studio has set up a small selection of books and media of all kinds and disciplines in the library of Angewandte, for reference, for orientation, to sharpen arguments and to seek a reflective approach to the complexity of events. In short, not to refrain from future.

The library offers a safe space, for a free and open gathering, and all are very welcome to add books and media and continue talking, even outside opening hours. From now on, discussion rounds will take place continuously in the lounge on the 5th floor of VZA7, vis á vis the library.
