In
their lecture, Studio Pointer* will provide an introduction to their practice and core design method, which they refer to
as "software fiction". By building experimental tools and employing a fictionalized, poetic approach to writing code, they
seek new perspectives in the design process and imagine alternative realities through the modification and repurposing of
technology. Their practice often transforms and expands through collaborations with creators from various fields, resulting
in work that spans from digital environments to spatial installations, encompassing software and hardware, digital and analogue
matter.
Studio Pointer* is a The Hague-based design studio and interactive
media laboratory run by Asya Sukhorukova and Jakob Schlötter. Together, they search for undiscovered treasures across the
ever-evolving landscape of new media, working with science fiction and seeking poetic interpretations of the future of technology
and language. Since the beginning of their collaborative practice in 2018, their autonomous and commissioned work has been
showcased at Venice Architecture Biennale, Floriade Festival, Site Gallery in Sheffield, Science Gallery in Melbourne, Cinekid
Festival, Collective Gallery in Edinburgh, Lithuanian National Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai and others.
