TransArts - Ulrike Königshofer: AT THE EDGE OF THE IMAGE

An event organised by TransArts - Transdisciplinary Art

In cross-media and process-oriented works Ulrike Königshofer deals with images in a broader sense. On the one hand, she addresses processes that lie behind the surface of an image in order to enable new and different perspectives on seeing. On the other hand, she deals in
principle with the possibility of forming an image of the world. How can one object say something about another? What is the information here and what role does the viewer play in reading it?
Ulrike Königshofer works as a visual artist in Vienna and is interested in human perception and the production of images, especially in photography and media works and installations. After studying art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, she spent time working in Paris, New York and London, among other places. She has shown solo exhibitions at the Austrian Cultural Forum New York ("Sense and Record"), Camera Austria Graz ("The Faulty Image"), the Halle für Kunst und Medien in Graz ("Things that are Other Things") and the weisses haus in Vienna ("The Back of Seeing"), etc. Her work has received several awards, including the Austrian State Scholarship for Fine Arts and the Erste Bank MehrWERT Art Prize.
