talk explores the potential of withdrawal and opacity* as fundamental ideas for choreographic performance in the present time.
Such an approach troubles simple versions of agency that tend to go hand in hand with the visible embodiment of subjectivities
which have been the privilege of the few. *opacity (Glissant 1997, 193) not only as aesthetic formations but also as political
value. Dr Vânia Gala is the Interim Head of Contemporary Performance Practice BA (Hons.). Prior to joining the Royal Conservatoire
of Scotland, she was a lecturer in Dance and the Module Leader of Examining Practice in the MA/MFA Choreography at Trinity
Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
