The sculptures have both a mechanical - and an organic
aspect, reminiscent of machines that could be in motion and are only immobilised for a moment. Much is clear and a little
frightening - and yet something remains in the vague. Humour and irony are an essential aspect of these inventions.
The lecture by Julie Hayward begins with a presentation of selected works, with a focus on object and drawing. Due to the
subject matter the 2nd part will go into more detail about the brainstorming and realisation of the works shown.
Julie Hayward has exhibited in the course of her career in countless national and international institutions
from Basel to
Munich, Frankfurt to Warsaw, she is represented with major works in most of Austria's collections from
the Neue Galerie
Graz, the Kunstmuseum Lentos, the MAK in Vienna, the art collection of Admont Abbey to the private collection
Liaunig,
and she has also created works for public spaces.
Born in Salzburg with English roots, she taught for many
years at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg. She lives and works in Vienna.
