What is design but people
Lecture by StudioSpass
Institute
of Design, Class of Graphic Design
Prof. Oliver Kartak
This lecture will be an introduction into the
work and methods of the Rotterdam based Studio Spass that works on a wide range of design and art projects. Being a small
studio they really enjoy the diversity of those challenges.
Growing up with 90's skateboard
culture and living in the ever evolving eclectic architectural environment of Rotterdam has shaped their playful view on interaction
and (semi) public space. Typography and spatial design has alway played a prominent role in their work. Most importantly they
want their works to be used and enjoyed by people. This can best be seen in some of the installations and exhibitions that
will be highlighted during the talk.
*Studio Spass is a Rotterdam-based design studio that works across print,
branding, web and spatial design projects. Founded by Jaron Korvinus and Daan Mens, the studio combines a rigorous, considered
and intelligent approach with a playful sensibility. They understand that powerful and effective design needs both original
ideas and faultless execution, and the team prides itself on its perfectionist eye for the little details as well as its innovative
conceptual thinking.
