An
event organised by TransArts - Transdisciplinary Art
Since 2002 I have been working intensively with forms
of representation of bodies that elude linear
interpretations.
Starting from the utopia of the possibility
that our bodies can change the way we think of them; of body concepts that understand the body as a kind of thought mass that
can take on any form of appearance, even more so any form of being.
Where
an elbow makes decisions just as much as a calf or the head. No holding on, no insisting on a thought. Always in the flow
of associations or the articulation of the body. With this the boundaries between one's own body and other bodies, between
organic and inorganic, between embodiment, thought and speech
expression also merge.
What do I want to
achieve with this? An opening of stereotypical imaginary worlds, a sensitisation for intermediate areas and foreign fields
into which everyone is able to diffuse. And - I would like to encourage you to use this freedom of representation.
Saskia
Hölbling has created more than 40 pieces with her ensemble since founding her company DANS.KIAS in 1995. In 2000
she was awarded the Prix d'Auteur du Conseil Général de Seine-Saint-Denis, in 2002 the Austrian Dance Production Prize. With
the Canadian choreographer Benoît Lachambre she developed her solo rrr ... in 2001 which was presented at the opening of the
Tanzquartier Wien. Her interest in contemporary music manifests itself in productions of works by Luciano Berio, Wolfgang
Mitterer and in the choreography for Iannis Xenakis' Oresteia. In 2011-2014 the Squatting Projects were created together with
the French video artist Laurent Goldring. The subsequent pieces were inspired by reflections of Jean-Luc Nancy: Corps à Corps
(2016) at the Odeon, Corps suspendus (2017), Things (2018) and Da-after (2019). Her latest piece, Through Touches, was shown
at WUK as part of ImPuls 2021.
