Lange Nacht der Forschung
The University of Applied Arts' Angewandte
Interdisciplinary Lab
Artistic work is the foundation for knowledge production
and the productive engagement with existing forms of knowledge, similar to those previously developed in other established
research areas. By building a suitable institutional framework, the University of Applied Arts’ goal is to generate innovative
knowledge output in the arts and artistic research field and to promote these results in a national and international science
context. Meanwhile, the definition of scientific research is based on the understanding of an unbiased and open knowledge
production process – anything is possible.
Lange Nacht der Forschung (The Long Night of Sciences)
gives us the chance to present current projects and invite you to be part of the science! Arts and sciences help us replace
the old with the new, thereby creating alternative perspectives and transformations – we approach, position and reflect in
a joint process. Things come out differently on the other side. Meanings change, positions change, change transforms, signification
changes.
The meeting of art and science – whether in the form of artistic works or artistic and scientific research –
always holds the potential of creating something unforeseen. Speculating, challenging and facing those challenges; we're all
in! We hope this night will change the way we think. There will only be one question: 'Have all dice already been cast?'
PROGRAM:
CIRCLE OF POSSIBILITES

way, to deal with topical and methodical in-between spaces?

Sciences.

EXPERIENCING POSITIONS
Everyone can be
part of this experience! Special settings will provide insight into artistic research projects in order to address the urgent
need to meet the current challenges. Come along and bring a friend!
Experiencing materials
Greenwashed
Concrete
Eckhard + Weber
Artistic research projects involving, about and in opposition to the fossil-based
building material concrete in the context of contradictory sustainability concepts. How can the substantial influence of the
most common anthropogenous material be understood and reduced?
Experiencing individuals
Steady on (Gemeinsam durch den Taumel)
Anderwald+Grond
This artistic research
project focuses on the phenomenon of an unstable public realm and explores possibilities of collectively navigating unstable
social and physical environments.
Experiencing atmospheres
Contingent Agencies
Nikolaus Gansterer
This artistic research project explores central aspects of the one presence which has so far
gone unnoticed: the agency of the components that constitute a situation.
Exploring the conditions
Toxic Temple - MESS
Kilian Jörg, Anna Lerchbaumer
Colorful assemblages of
things connecting the known cosmos, unsteady ground of a new divinity and strong smells that guide us to the sublime. Landfills
are the new temples. What changes if we religiously worship the power of toxicity?
TIME FOR REFLECTION
Book lounge and retreat – a place to rest!
In dedicated areas, artistic researchers will present excerpts from
their scientific research and artistic practice. The focus will always be on individual positions and approaches that illustrate
how art can change the way we perceive and understand the world!
8.30 - 9.15 pm
Book presentation: Toxic Temple - An Artistic and Philosophical Adventure into the Toxicity of the Now
