POSTPONEMENT of the BIG Konferenz: Archiving the Present (CANCELLED)

Caring for Public Art in the Future

A Conference by BIG in cooperation with the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Department of Site-Specific Art

POSTPONEMENT of the BIG Konferenz

The Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) is closely monitoring the current situation relating to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections seen in various countries including Austria. The safety and health of our speakers and conference guests are very important to us.

Therefore, after consulting our cooperation partner the University of Applied Arts Vienna, BIG has decided to postpone the conference on “Archiving the Present. Caring for Public Art in the Future” scheduled for Friday 13 March due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus. A new date will be announced as soon as possible.

We regret that postponing this event may mean additional organisational work for you and thank you for understanding.

We look forward to discussing the way we deal with art in public space with you at a later date.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us, if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Your BIG Conference Team
Since 2005, BIG ART has been supporting and developing “Percent for Art” projects in and on selected buildings managed by the Austrian Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG). In view of a growing body of artworks and artistic interventions,
the necessity of renovating and extending buildings, and the general shortage of space, the question of how to preserve and archive these artefacts is becoming increasingly urgent. BIG understands this problem as one of the cultural and sociopolitical challenges facing us today and joins experts from a range of disciplines to discuss the structural conditions that need to be created in order to ensure the necessary scope for both preserving the old and enabling the new.
