This workshop
will explore location recording techniques and introduce you to equipment that is accessible and easy to use. All audio variables
that might arise during a shoot will be explained, including; microphone polar patters, sampling rate and bit depth, wind
shields, and affordable specialist tools such as hydrophones and contact mics. We’ll also look at post-production options
to improve dialogue and location sound recordings, such as; how to use panning, equalization and reverb to full effect. The
goal is to strengthen your understanding of sound design (ambience, foley), silence and music as a dramaturgical element in
film post-production.
