die angewandte dances lindy hop (CANCELLED)

Lindy Hop is a social dance from the late thirties originating from Harlem, NY.

The partnership consists of a Leader and a Follower (not defined by gender but by choice). Partners are connected smoothly and gently to each other, while improvising together to the swinging Jazz music.

Solo Jazz is another important part of the dancing culture of the 20s and 30s, it influences a lot the partner dancing and we will also include it in this workshop.
We are interested in a wholesome approach to dancing and movement which is why we will have exercises around the understanding of jazz music, body awareness and balance.

This is an example of two dancers improvising to live music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azSpC1LIqsg

Not only because Lindy Hop is a social dance but also because we experienced that students learn much faster and make beautiful connections with new people, we rotate partners during class.
Upon registration you will need to choose (for now) if you want to learn the leader or the follower role.
It is not necessary to register with a partner, however in order to maintain a nice follower/leader ratio. In case we have uneven registrations numbers, the course will be held as a role switch workshop (every one learns both roles).
For the class please bring comfortable clothing and sneakers (no black soles) and maybe an extra shirt.

This workshop consists of 6 classes (1,15h).

Total course fee per person: €65,-
