In
the era of dominance of post-dramatic theater, what is the position of those authors whose only means are words? Using her
latest drama as an example (commissioned by the Vienna Schauspielhaus on the centenary of the First World War), the author
will explain her work process - a transformation of historic material, through a personal political beliefs and credo, into
dramatic form.
Biljana Srbljanovic, Serbian playwright, born in Sweden, taught in the U.S.,
lived in Azerbaijan, owner of a French passport, a Yugoslav. The author of a dozen plays and numerous essays and columns for
leading European newspapers. In her dramatic expression, she combines the political and the intimate, writes about family
issues that reflects all the key historical moments of war, post-war Yugoslavia. She won numerous awards for her work, including
Ernst Toller Award and Premio Europa A New Theatrical Reality.
