Gaining artistic and professional experience in a small but renowned
architectural firm or institution in the field of building culture abroad.
Purpose/
Intention: The term “Baukultur” is understood as a collective designation for the built environment and
encompasses not only buildings but, in particular, open spaces, energy efficiency, spatial and urban planning, as well as
the processes relevant to the creation of Baukultur, such as participatory procedures.
The intention of the
TISCHE
program is to provide young architects, immediately after completing their education, with the opportunity to gain relevant
artistic and professional experience in a smaller, innovative architectural firm or at an institution abroad that already
has a certain degree of international recognition.
In the application, a specific office must be named that also corresponds
in content and theme to the applicant’s interest in their own architectural development. This must be justified briefly. Applications
for multiple offices therefore do not align with the program’s objectives. A subsequent change of the specified office is
only possible with appropriate justification and after consultation with Department IV/B/4.
A direct connection between
the selected office or work projects and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is desirable and will be applied by the
jury as an additional selection criterion (
https://sdgs.un.org/goals).
Target
group: Eligible to apply are architects who have completed their studies within the last three years (graduation
not before March 31, 2023) and who work in a self-employed capacity, and who either hold Austrian citizenship or have their
permanent residence in Austria (registration certificate). Passing the civil engineer examination is not required.
Students
are not eligible to apply. All persons enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences are excluded from applying,
as are individuals who have already received a TISCHE scholarship. Persons who have been awarded a studio grant, a foreign
studio grant, or any other long-term scholarship (6 months or longer) for the year 2025 cannot be considered for another scholarship
at the same time.
Number of scholarships: up to 5 scholarships

Scholarship amount: Endowed
with EUR 11.100,00 each
