MARGARETE SCHÜTTE LIHOTZKY Project Grants 2026

The Margarete Schütte Lihotzky Project Grants were established in honour of the distinguished Austrian architect on the occasion of her 100th birthday to enable projects in the field of architecture and urban planning with a focus on experimental approaches to social improvement and in connection with the dynamics of current social change.

Purpose/ Intention:
Cooperation with institutions in an international context, such as planning departments, exemplary project sponsors, libraries, archives, university/college institutes, etc., is desirable.
A direct link between the project and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (https://sdgs.un.org/goals) is desirable and will be used by the jury as an additional selection criterion.

Target group:
Architects with at least five years of professional experience who are Austrian citizens or have permanent residence in Austria (registration form) are eligible to apply. It is not necessary to have passed the civil engineer examination.
Students are not eligible to apply. All persons enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences are excluded from applying, as are persons who have already received the Margarete Schütte Lihotzky Project Scholarship. Persons who have been awarded a studio grant, a studio abroad or any other long-term scholarship (6 months or longer) for the year 2025 cannot be considered for another scholarship at the same time.

up to 5 scholarships

Scholarship duration:
6 months, the scholarship is to be taken up in 2026

Scholarship amount:
Endowed with EUR 9,300.00 each
