The purpose of the Program is to deal with the
consequences of the Russian aggression in Ukraine devoted to the promotion of democracy in all possible ways with a special
focus on research topics relating to Austrian history, politics and culture, Habsburg Imperial history, politics and culture,
Austrian-Ukrainian and Austrian-Russian relations, Austrian-American transatlantic relations.
Preference will be given to students from the Social Sciences, but students from other fields (Law, Business,
Humanities, etc.) with related research topics are welcome to apply.
In this context, the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation
invites applications projects of scientific cooperation with the University of California, Berkeley for the academic year
2026/27, coordinated by the Institute of European Studies at UC Berkeley:
Up to 6 research fellowship awards to
Doctoral Students from Austrian Universities at the University of California, Berkeley for a duration of three months and
a stipend of EUR 6.500 (incl. any taxes, charges and duties).
The time frame for the stay at Berkeley can be chosen
freely between September 2026 and September 2027. The Institute of European Studies will lend the necessary support on campus
and will furnish office space to the best of its abilit.
