Das Gender Art Lab (GAL)
Ableist, Sexist, transphobic,
and racist stereotyping of autism in mainstream media in contrast with social media as a diverse space for autistic representation.
Der Vortrag wird hauptsächlich in Englisch durchgeführt. Wir
werden gemeinsam anschneiden, woher Stereotype über Autismus entstehen. Dazu machen wir einen historischen Ausflug in das
Nazi-Regime und wie dieses Stereotypien über Autismus bis heute prägt. Es soll anhand von Beispielen aus Serien wie "The Good
Doctor" gemeinsam analysiert und diskutiert werden, inwiefern autistische Repräsentationen behindertenfeindliche, transfreindliche,
misogyne und rassistische Biases verhärten können. Die sozialen Medien sollen als ein potentieller Raum für diverse Repräsentation
von Autismus besprochen werden, auch anhand von ausgewählten Tiktok-Videos. Als Methode zur Analyse wird vor allem das Konzept
der Epistemischen (Un)Gerechtigkeit von Kristie Dotson verwendet.

Sybille Bauer-Zierfuß
is a filmmaker, media artist & researcher. She was born in Linz (Austria), but is currently based in Vienna. Bauer’s art
explores topics such as autism, structural violence, (auto)biographical work, death, grief & abuse. Through her intimate
and very personal works, that do not shy away from the unpleasant, she received numerous stipends and awards. Her work was
exhibited and screened internationally.
